Sanford H. Ruben, 81 of Viera Beach, FL passed away peacefully on Monday, October 4, 2021 at his home. Sandy Ruben will be dearly missed by his nephews, Howard, Dennis, Jeff, and Gary Ruben along with his Sister-in-law of 70 years Hannah Ruben, wife to his late older brother Eugene Ruben. Additionally, Sandy was survived by his dear cousins Edward Ruben and Linda (Ruben) Steiner along with many great nephews and nieces.
He proudly served our country for 21 years in the U.S. Navy. He completed 2 tours of duty during the Vietnam War and was a recipient of the Purple Heart. During his service he received formal training and education as a chef, attending the Culinary Institute of America.
After his military service, Sandy continued as a head chef of a gourmet restaurant in Sarasota, Florida until his retirement in 1995. In addition to his love of cooking he was a devoted animal rights advocate and a lover of his longtime pet dogs, Jlo and Reilly.
Entombment will be at a later date in Arlington National Cemetery with full military honors.
