Richard Koralewicz, 81, of Merritt Island, FL passed away peacefully on December 24, 2021. Richard grew up in Riverhead, NY and served in the US Navy. He moved to Florida in 1966 to work the Apollo Space Program and continued working at Kennedy Space Center and CCAFS in construction management for several aerospace contractors over the years on the Space Shuttle and Titan Programs. He also was self-employed as a contractor building custom homes.
Richard lived life to the fullest and was very involved in his local and church communities. He (Mr. K) enjoyed working with his wife with teens in high school youth ministry at Church of Our Saviour and participated in their retreats, campouts, meetings, and outreach service activities. Richard served on construction mission trips to Haiti and the Dominican Republic. He was an active engaged dad and spent many years coaching youth soccer and being involved in leadership roles for the Indian Guides Canaveral Nation with both of his sons and rooting for the Auburn Tigers football team. After retiring, he remained active volunteering as a docent at the Kennedy Space Center Visitor Complex Apollo facility and serving as a member of the Brevard County Dredge Committee.
Richard enjoyed making people laugh, telling a good story, fishing, traveling, and eating exotic foods. He loved the water, be it taking friends and family out fishing on his boat, vacationing at Big Pine Key, crabbing in Oregon, or taking many cruises. Most of all, he loved and cherished his family including his dog Fozzie.
Richard was predeceased by his parents, Dorothy and Stephen Koralewicz. He is survived by his loving wife of 54 years, Patricia, daughter Lisa, sons Paul and Peter, daughters in law Jackie and Michele, grandchildren Jenny, Steven, and Sebastian and many sisters and brothers in law, nieces and nephews.
