John “Rudy” Puleo, 91 of Cocoa Beach Fl passed away peacefully on December 31,2021. He was born November 27, 1930, in Tampa Fl. He is preceded in death by his father, Paolo Puleo, mother Margaret Puleo, and Sister Mary Juan.
John is survived by his loving wife of 69 years Evelyn Puleo. His two son’s Paul Puleo (Cheryl) & Rudy Puleo (Clara.) His granddaughter Alysha Green (Stephen). Grandson’s Rudy K. Puleo, Vinny Puleo, and Jonathan Puleo. His Great-Granddaughter Amberly Green.
Rudy was Born in Tampa Fl and graduated from Jesuit High School. He went on to further his education at the University of Florida in Gainesville where he graduated with a master’s degree in microbiology. Rudy was honorably discharged from the United States Army (FT. Polk LA.) with a rank of Captain. He then moved his family from Tampa to Phoenix, AZ.
to begin work for NASA as a Project Manager.
His second & last family move was from Phoenix to Cocoa Beach FL. where he continued his employment with Kennedy Space Center. Over his 35-year career, he worked with numerous aerospace contractors including NASA, JPL (Jet Propulsion Laboratory) & Bionetics Corporation on all Apollo Missions including Lunar Landings, Skylab & all Space Shuttle Missions.
Rudy was awarded by the NASA Appreciation & Recognition of John "Rudy" Puleo contribution to the Planetary Quarantine Program directed to the planets in order that scientific objectives may be realized & that planets may be preserved to the benefit of future generations who may explore & colonize these planets.
Later he was rewarded by the NASA Certificate of Recognition for a brief entitled "Speedy Acquisition of Surface Contamination Samples for publication”. He also had articles relating to other projects published as well.
Rudy loved watching his sons play baseball from Little League through high school level, granddaughter Alysha playing tennis for CB High School & Florida Southern College in Lakeland, & grandsons Jonathan & Vinny playing basketball & tennis for CB High School as well as playing AAU basketball. He also enjoyed his bi-yearly trips to Las Vegas along with cruising on casino cruises with wife Evelyn. He was a proud Florida Gator who enjoyed watching Gator football & basketball.
A memorial service will be held Saturday, January 15th, 10:30am-Our Savior's Catholic Church, Cocoa Beach, FL
