Obituary

John Philip Freeman (age 91) of Viera, Florida, passed away on November 6, after a long battle with Dementia.

John was born to Clair and Mary (Hochsieder) Freeman in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. He was a loving husband of 65 years to his wife Patricia (McCartney) Freeman and a devoted father to Jaclyn (Karl) Donenwirth, Karen (Barry) Foust (Viera, Florida) and Patrice Freeman (Alde, Virginia).

After graduating from Central Catholic High School, John proudly served in the Air Force as an interpreter.  After leaving the Air Force, John worked for Equitable Gas while at the same time pursuing his Associate Degree from Robert Morris University.  John went on to work for Westinghouse as an Accountant while earning his Bachelor’s Degree from the University of Pittsburgh.

After a 30 year career, John retired from Westinghouse when he and Patricia moved to Ft. Myers, Florida.  They ultimately moved to Viera, Florida where Patricia continues to reside. John and Patricia were active in their church choir and men’s club and enjoyed dining out, dancing and cruising.  John was an avid fan of the Pittsburgh Steelers, Pirates and Penguins and enjoyed doing crossword puzzles.

John is survived by his wife Patricia, his daughters Karen and Patrice and three grandchildren (Alexa (Joseph) Topper, Patrick Butsko and Grace Butsko). He was predeceased by his parents (Clair and Mary), his brothers (Clair, James, Robert and William) and his sisters (Margaret Biroscak, Anna DePastino, Delores Hughes, Clairice Pepper, Gertrude Shearer and Mary Jane Sincliar) and his daughter Jaclyn.

He will be missed by the many people whose lives he touched.  We will carry him in our hearts forever.  Services will be held at Saint John the Evangelist Catholic Church in Viera, Florida on Friday December 3rd at 11:00 am. In lieu of flowers, the family has requested donations be made in his name to the Alzheimer’s Association (https://www.alz.org/) or Hospice of St. Francis Reflections Lifestage Care (https://reflectionslsc.org/ ).
