James E. Roberts, 73, of Melbourne Florida, passed away on Friday, February 7, 2020 at the Cape Canaveral hospital. Jim was a senior cost analyst at NASA, first at Langley and then at Kennedy Space Center. After his retirement in 2018, he went to Northrop Grumman. He grew up in Pinehurst, Georgia, graduated from Vienna High School in Vienna Georgia and from the University of Georgia in Athens, Georgia with a BS in mathematics. He had a master’s degree in business administration from Georgia State University in Atlanta, Georgia.
Jim was a member of Suntree Methodist Church in Melbourne. He was a kind and loving person who was very generous with his time and energy when it came to do something to help a friend. He had a great sense of humor. He was an avid golfer, he liked listening to jazz music, and he enjoyed visiting new places and sharing these with friends.
He is survived by his wife of 25 years, Rose, his daughter Cassie and husband Xavier Becker of Henrico, Virginia, a step daughter Charlene and husband Brad Cheatham of Gloucester, Virginia, grandchildren, Rylan and Birkett Becker, step grandchildren, Michael Trantham, Jr., of Gloucester, Virginia, Jacob Cheatham of Jacksonville, Florida, and Brooke Cheatham of Charleston, South Carolina, a sister Jean and husband Jérôme Jaffré of Saint-Nom-La-Bretèche, France and a brother Ray of Phoenix, Arizona, a niece Kristen Ludlum of Phoenix and nephews Ryan Roberts also of Phoenix, Shane Hancock of Orlando, Florida, Rémi Jaffré of New York, and Marc Jaffré of Oxford, England.
A funeral service will be held at Suntree Methodist Church, 7400 North Wickham Road, Melbourne, at 11:00am on Saturday, February 15, 2020.
