Welcome to the memorial page for

Nancy L. Cunio

August 4, 1931 ~ August 28, 2017 (age 86)

Nancy Lawton Cunio, 86, formerly of Miami and St. Augustine, Florida, passed away peacefully on Monday August 28, 2017. She is together again with her forever love Bob, who preceded her in death in 2007. Nancy was born in Newport, Rhode Island and her family spent winters in Miami, as her father was a road builder. She attended school in Miami and met Robert J, Cunio, Sr.  While both were attending college, their love survived a long-distance courtship when Bob was called to serve our country. They married in 1954 and lived in Miami until 1986. They enjoyed traveling between their homes in St. Augustine, Florida and Sparta, North Carolina.

Nancy, or “Chicken,” as Bob affectionately called her, was the consummate hostess, shopper, and friend.  Nancy enjoyed hosting meals for family and friends, finding the best bargains with her daughters, and sitting in her recliner most evenings dialing friends to catch-up on the day’s happenings.  There wasn’t an occasion Nancy missed-- her thoughtful calls, cards and mementos are cherished memories that all will hold as we say goodbye to a friend, a mother, a grandmother, and a great grandmother.

Mrs. Cunio is survived by her three daughters and son, Bonnie (Rob) Woessner, Cindy Foster, Penny (Dave) Jessup, and Robert J. (Christine) Cunio, Jr. Beyond her children, Nancy's greatest joy was her 13 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren, twins Doug and R.J. Woessner, twins Kate and Scott Woessner; Clay (Tara) Foster, great grandsons Wesley and Johnny, Heath (Ashley) Foster and great granddaughter Charlie, Diana Foster; Tammy, David and Ryan Jessup and great granddaughter Maya Edgerton; Jessica (Ryan) Bootle, Alexis and R.J. Cunio ΙΙΙ.
